When you purchase the Vulnerability Assessment Tool you will receive two files to download; one for current versions of Excel (file extension .xlsx) and one that is compatible with Excel for Windows 1997 – 2003. Download and save both files. Use Lite Vulnerability Assessment Tool for Excel 97 – 2003 with Microsoft Excel for Windows 1997 -2003 and with older versions of Excel for Mac. When your software is upgraded, switch to the full version for better functions and no extra cost.
Differences between the two versions:
- Lite Vulnerability Assessment Tool for Excel 97 – 2003 does not have the same colour-coding feature as the standard version. This does not affect the results or the reporting; the colour-coding is included simply as a learning device to help users understand how their answers are affecting the outcome.
- Error protections are less stringent on the Excel 1997 – 2003 version; it is easier to make errors which can affect results and functionality.
- The Excel 1997 – 2003 version has a larger file size (approximately 8MB) because Excel’s compression features work differently with older software.
- There are no macros in either version of the spreadsheet.
